HD or High-definition TV is not a new concept and has it’s origins in the 1930’s. However in the 1990’s it was introduced in the United States. Europe began demo broadcasts shortly afterwards , but it wasn’t until 2004 that a proper broadcast was made in Belgium.
Obviously the main attraction of HD TV is it’s picture quality. This is defined by frame size in pixels , how the picture is scanned and lastly how many frames per second can be displayed. All the usual recording facilities can cater for HD TV and satellite providers such as Sky have there own HD boxes and now specific stations. Generally you require a box to view this media but there are TV’s out there that do not require this however.
Again , you have a plethora of choice with these sets and it is wise to shop-around as with anything else today. As stated above , the quality of one of these TV’s is as important to some as the price , so you may notice the difference with how sizes differ with these sets. Anything from 10-80 inches may be readily available to the consumer on the High Street and obviously you can go better , provided you have the money. LCD and Plasma sets have different dimensions , and we shall look at this in more detail below but Sony
Sharp and Panasonic are widely regarded as selling good quality models.
You may also wish to have more than one connection outlets on your TV , and Samsung and Toshiba offer this too , which helps with gaming and multi-media usage. Prices range in places like Argos from a couple of hundred pounds to several thousand. So shop-around !
