Freeview HD does just what it says on the box
What, in layman’s terms is Freeview HD? There’s been a lot of min-information bandied about and some people – specially older – have become fairly confused about the whole “Digital switchover” thing as well.
Basically Freeview HD does just what it says on the box. It is the name of the UK’s ““free to air” service on the Digital Terrestrial Television platform.” Five separate companies hold equal shares in the company – the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky. That’s why you can always see these channels free to air, some of their subsidiaries, and no others. LED/LCD TV
LCD- Liquid-crystal display TV’s are thin and light compared to their predecessor Cathode-Ray tube or CRT TV’s. These sets were bulky and not environmentally friendly as an example. Reduced manufacturing costs meant LCD’s by-passed the CRT set. There were teething-problems with the LCD set when first introduced , and complaints of poor images were soon overcome and now increased technology suggests they are even taking-over the latter Plasma set as the number-one preferred seller. What began as an Electric telescope back in 1883 was to develop into a massive industry that rules most peoples’ lives. At the beginning of the twentieth century, frequency amplification tubes made the transmission of images possible. By the early 1920’s images were successfully being sent over short distances.
